Description

The 25th Annual Mission Possible Conference will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the SFASU campus in Nacogdoches, TX.

Brought to you by Burke, the Alzheimer's Association, the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council, Texas AHEC East, Stephen F. Austin State University School of Social Work and DSHS Rusk State Hospital, Mission Possible will apply to offer contact hours for nurses, counselors, social workers, LMFTs, and activity professionals. A 3-hour workshop on Texas Ethics for LPCs, LMFTs and social workers will be offered.

Educator CEs are not pre-approved, contact your school district curriculum and instruction office for potential CE approval (i.e. Nacogdoches ISD has approved CE for their employees who attend). We can supply our agenda and proof of attendance.

The prospective audience includes:

  • Nursing Professionals
  • Activity Professionals
  • Child Welfare Professionals
  • Foster and Adoptive Parents
  • Consumers and the general public

Conference pre-registration is:

  • $60 for professionals seeking continuing education hours
  • $50 for the general public not in need of credit or contact hours
  • $30 for students and consumers

Early Registration will end on Friday, February 28, 2020. Late registrations will be accepted until the event begins with a $5 fee added to those listed above. Online registration will close at 11:59 pm on March 12, 2020.

Free Preconference sponsored by Burke and Cohosted by Nacogdoches Area United Way
The day prior to the event, on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, from 2-4 p.m., all participants are invited to a pre-conference event held at the First Christian Church. Facilitated by the Junior League of Lufkin the Poverty Simulation (designed by the Missouri Community Action Network) is an interactive immersion experience to sensitize participants to the realities of poverty. Watch this YouTube video to learn more. The event has applied to offer 2.0 hours of continuing education credit. When registering please also choose the "Preconference Ticket" in addition to your conference registration ticket. Participants may opt to only register and attend the Preconference.

Meals: Registration includes a morning continental breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack.

Parking: Parking is available in the student center parking garage next to the Baker Patillo Student Center. Attendees must bring the parking stub received upon entering the garage to the registration table to receive a plastic, swipe card to exit the parking garage free of charge. Participants who do not pick up a swipe card will be responsible for paying for exiting the parking garage with a credit or debit card.

Refund Policy: Registrants who cancel will receive a refund, less a $10 processing fee, if written notice (email to kinnie.reina@myburke.org) is received before February 28, 2020. A substitute may attend if written notification is received at least 24 hours before the start of the conference.

Continuing Education Information
Social Workers, LMFTs, LPCs, and LMFTS: This program will apply for 6.5 hours of continued education credit including 3 ethics hours for Social Workers, LPCs and LMFTs.
Activity Professionals: Contact hours of 6.5 hours will be applied through the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals.
Nurses: Nursing contact hours of 5.4 hours will be applied for through the Texas Nurses Association, an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
